I felt bad about the election of Barack Obama for all of about 30 minutes. Immediately after FOX news called Pennsylvania for Obama, I knew then it was over. All of my fears of losing the America that I love flooded my thoughts. I turned the TV off and I talked to God and asked him how he could take my country down this dangerous path.
Almost immediately, I was hit with a bible passage, taught to me from my youth. Please don't ask me to quote chapter and verse because the passage of years has dimmed my memory. But to paraphrase, it says that the people in the positions of power, in the entire world, are placed there by GOD himself.
God is on the throne! He knows what he is doing, even though I haven't a clue.
Then it dawned on me, an old football adage...WITH ADVERSITY COMES OPPORTUNITY.
Two things need to be said about that.
One, the people of America have become so complacent and spoiled by the prosperity of America since the Ronald Reagan years, that we have forgotten what bad times are all about. I survived the Jimmy Carter years. If you didn't, and if you think that these are some bad times, I challenge you to look at what Carters term in the oval office did for us. Compare the late 70s to today and see if these two eras are comparable.
Two, this is the change for Americans to see what bad times (and bad choices for Presidents) will garner. With the adversity that is to come under Barack Obama, comes the opportunity for Americans to realize just how conservative they are.
With this newly aquired way of thinking, I woke up yesterday with a new lease on life. Yes, I know the election is only about 36 hours old, but I am already exploring opportunitiues on being involved with a new conservation revolution in 2010 and an even bigger revolution in 2012. I immediately wrote my new conservative idol, Mike Huckabee and asked him where do I start? Where am I needed? What can I do to be a part of the of the eminent move of this country back to the right?
I am NOT going to be bitter, sad, angry, depressed or wring my hands after Tuesday nights election. I am going to make lemonade out of the lemon handed down to us by the American people. I am going to look at the Obama years and see it as a replay of the Carter years....and look forward to who we will elect in 2012.
Im a damn proud conservative and I am going to tough it out for the next 4 years. I will let the Obama worshippers realize for themselves that they fell for a false messiah.
